An author visit is a catalyst for curiosity. There is nothing quite like the "buzz" in the air after a high-energy author assembly or virtual poetry workshop! These visits consistently reignite a passion for reading and writing.
Further to this, they broaden our learners' horizons by showcasing professional paths in writing, editing, illustration, and publishing, proving that a love for words can lead to a lifelong career.
13th February 2026 - Banji Alexander!
Through Spring term 1, our learners engaged with weekly assembly linked to the author and former teacher, Alexander Banji. The children wrote letters to Banji to invite him to our school and learnt his song 'New King' during their singing assembly.
Ahead of Banji's visit, we had an incredible 117 copies of his book 'Lockdoom Looms' ordered!!
On Friday 13th February, Banji visited our children at Ringmer. The children loved engaging in a question and answer session, including asking about what inspired him to become an author, which of the character's in his story he was most like and also how he felt when he performed 'New King' on Britain's Got Talent!
It was a truly memorable experience for our children.
December 2025 - Amazingly, Awesome Alexandra Benedict Author Visit !
Yesterday, our KS2 learners had a visit from the author of 'The Merry Christmas Murders' - the wonderful Alexandra Benedict. She shared information about herself, how she become an author and engaged the children with anagrams and question time! The children were enthused throughout her visit. Here is what some of our learners had to say...
"She was so amazing! She loved answering our questions and even read us some of her book! It was soooo good!" Zach
"I liked how she spoke about herself. She wasn't embarrassed to share that she didn't have many friends in school. I liked that she told us about her autism and ADHD and I was able to talk to her about our Launchpad and how it helps." Harriet
"Alexandra Benedict was truly amazing. She talked to us about the characters in her books, who were neurodiverse." Jesse
"I think she will inspire people. I enjoyed speaking to her afterwards and telling her about myself and all the poems and stories I have been writing." Laini
