Safeguarding

If, at any time, you have any concerns concerning the welfare of a child you can speak to any member of staff in total confidence who will then refer it to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

We take the Safeguarding of our children very seriously and believe two way communication with the parent body is crucial to this.

At our school we work within the following guidelines laid out in the policies below.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead is the Headteacher, Miss Crompton. The Deputy Safeguarding Leads are the Deputy Headteacher and EYFS leader, Sara Crane, Assistant Head, Miss Stone, and HLTA Mrs Duc.

All our staff receive regular Safeguarding training and each carry guidance of what to do in the event of a Safeguarding disclosure.

Lots of information on Safeguarding in East Sussex can be found here at the East Sussex Local Safeguarding Children Board website.

Extremism & Radicalisation

This is fast becoming an important topic for everyone and we hope to engage the children in this subject through the curriculum and other activities. A guide for parents can be found in the folder below.

This new government website gives parents, teachers and school leaders practical advice on protecting children from extremism and radicalisation. http://educateagainsthate.com/

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass is an initiative run by Sussex Police that aims to reduce the long-term impacts of domestic abuse by providing early intervention and support.

When the police attend incidents of domestic violence or abuse where children are directly or indirectly involved, they notify the designated safeguarding lead at the child’s school before the start of the next school day. The safeguarding lead then makes sure the child gets the immediate support that they need.
