Maths Week England kicks off on Maths Week England 2026 - Monday 17th November - Friday 21st Novemeber.
Why are we taking part?
For you to engage with maths in a fun way
To realise maths is all around you
To create something we can keep as a resource to promote maths outside of the daily maths lesson.
To boost confidence in fluency through the use of Mangahigh games
To motivate you to develop resilience when faced with a challenge, linked to our value of courage.
This week the children had a wonderful time celebrating, 'Maths Week England'.
On Monday, EYFS - Y1: dressed up as 'NumberBlocks' and had an immersive day learning all about the different numbers and completing tasks related to them.
On Monday, Y2-Y6 dressed up as 'Rockstars' and channeled their inner 'rockstar' to complete a Battle of Bands against each other on TTRS.
Winners were:
1st place: MantaRays 657
2nd place: Sunfish 506
3rd place: SeaLions 336
All the children gave it their all and absolutely loved the experience!
Tuesday saw another 1 hour session of TTRS, completing a Battle of Bands between key phases. The children were so involved and worked so hard to embed their times tables to play against each other.
Wednesday and Thursday consisted of our learners from EYFS to Y6 experiencing our 'Race to Space' problem solving activities.
They had to decide and work out who would be the next astronaut ‘going into space’, by exploring how our bodies would react differently in space by analysing data, solving problems and using maths to determine who would statistically be the best candidate.
Friday saw our conclusion of our fun Maths Week with children having access to our ‘Ringmer Careers Fair’.
Thank you so much to all of the parents and companies who volunteered their time, effort and energy to the children at Ringmer for the day. We cannot express our gratitude and appreciation enough. These individuals and businesses, provided our learners with opportunities to experience conversations, play and immerse themselves in opportunities that they would not experience otherwise. The children absolutely loved it!
Friday 6th February 2026 is Number Day!
This year we will be taking part in NSPCC Number Day on Friday 6th February. Number Day is the NSPCC's mega maths fundraising event. Every year, thousands of schools and nurseries across the UK fundraise for the NSPCC by having fun with maths. For this, the children will be ‘Dressing up for Digits’ and make a donation to the NSPCC.
