School Sports News

Term 1, 2018-2019

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Bronze award for the 2017/18 academic year.

A large number of children from our school took part in local sporting competitions across the year and we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport. A special thanks also goes to all the adults who have contributed to our success this year.

This year's application kicks off with the Year 5/6 Indoor athletics competition at the end of term one. Good luck team!

Term 5 - w/b 16th April 2018

Gymnastics

This week a team of 8 girls competed in the East Sussex county gymnastics competition against 7 other schools. The girls worked so hard and finished 1st! They are now through to the School Games finals in July to compete against the winners of other counties. Well done to all the girls and Miss M!

Term 3 - w/b 8th Jan 2018

Daily Mile

This week kicked off with our Daily mile assembly. With the weather on our side, all the classes have enjoyed doing the daily mile everyday, with lots of children (and teachers!) already achieving personal bests. Well done everyone!

Cross country

On Thursday, four of our children competed in the cross country finals in Lewes. They all did really well, with Zak, Jack and Leia qualifying to represent the Sussex Downs area in the Sussex School Games finals later in the year. A great achievement!

Tag Rugby Club

The school tag rugby club, which runs on Wednesdays after school and open to girls and boys, are looking for new recruits and have produced a poster that you will soon see up around the school.

If you are in years 3-6 and would like to join, speak to Mrs Green or the office for more information.

The Daily Mile

On Monday 8th January, we launched The Daily Mile at our school. The Daily Mile is a new initiative where every child goes outside with their class and teacher and walks, jogs or runs for 10 minutes around our footprint track.

The aim is for our children to be fitter, healthier and happier and we're looking forward to the many benefits it will bring them, both in school and at home.

Snowy Owls and Kestrels enjoyed their first daily mile run.
