Took a tour ..

  • I took a little tour of the building site today after work. Until this week, the project seemed to be mostly about preparation...from bringing in the mobile classrooms to demolition of the old infant wing, digging out the old foundations and creating the new ones. On Monday though, something changed. We arrived at school to find an army of bricklayers who were, well, laying bricks! Lots and lots of bricks, in fact. So many that now, walking around the site it is becoming very easy to see the layout of the new classrooms and corridors. The walls will go up very quickly now, and with the building work going full speed ahead all over the Summer holidays, the roof will be on before we know it. It's fascinating for all of us, adults and children alike, to see the new building emerge on the site of the old one and I am sure it is going to look absolutely superb at the end of it all.

Despite the huge building project on the site and the fact that we have no hall at the moment, we have been very successful in maintaining normal service as much as we possibly can. I am very proud of the way the staff, children and parents have coped with everything and would like to thank everyone for 'going with the flow'.

Our next area of focus is going to be the outdoor areas of the school - we want to plan and create an outstanding and inspirational environment for the children to use in their learning and play.  We have loads of great ideas but want to hear from parents who are interested in working with us to develop a costed and prioritised plan - I will be arranging a meeting for all who are interested in this project, very soon.

    Thanks for reading!
